DISEASE AND PEST CONTROL:
Prevention and control of melon downy mildew (caused by lower fungi):
- In greenhouse cultivation, properly manage temperature differences and ventilation, and ensure adequate water circulation.
- For open-field cultivation, ensure prompt drainage after rainfall.
- Upon early detection, apply fungicides such as Baijunqing + Propionizer Zinc, or Jingjia Shuangling + Daisen Manganese Zinc.
- For severe infections, use enoxymorpholine, cyanothalonil, or fipronil for effective control.
Prevention and control of melon aphids and thrips:
- For aphids, do not use single‑agent products (e.g., imidacloprid or pymetrozine) alone, as they offer limited control. Instead, apply a compound formulation of imidacloprid and pymetrozine.
- If aphid resistance is high, consider using fipronil, which also provides control against thrips.
- For severe thrips infestations, ethylphosphamide (Aleutide) is recommended.
